Human Development Index and Local Government Performance: Evidence from Central Java Province, Indonesia

This research examines the relationship between human development index (HDI) and local government performance. Further, our study divided HDI into life expectancy, education, per capita income. The measurement of performance was done through evaluation performances from Ministry Home Affairs, Republic Indonesia. current sample consists in Central Java Province during 2014-2019 period. There are 35 governments Province, with 210 observations. result shows that has a positive effect on higher improved government. expectancy income positively affect government’s On other hand, education no significant also investigates future confirms expectation next year’s It is expected will give more attention to improving index, thus, performance.
